September Model of the Month – Clare R!
1. Where are you from?
I grew up in a small Florida beach town called Vero Beach.
2. What are you into… studies, hobbies, special skills, etc.?
I’ve been on a real reading kick for the past couple years. I’m really into poetry and fantasy right now. I’m also a big cooking and baking lover. I recently learned how to roll tortellini so it’s about to be a fresh filled pasta fall.
3. Favorite clients from the biz?
My favorite client is undoubtedly Eloquii. They are a plus size company that is really dedicated to making real fashion forward pieces available to larger sizes and it’s just so exciting to be a part of that process. To see runway tears and inspo materialize into something made without compromises meant to hide a bigger body is euphoric. Shooting with Michael Kors and Macy’s were also pinch me moments.
4. Dreams/goals, anything else of interest (any fit dream clients)?
My dreams/goals for the industry include Christian Siriano in any capacity. He’s such a big name for the big girls. I used to be a stylist for Madewell so modeling for them would feel like a sweet full circle moment. Savage X Fenty would also be a dream. Non-industry goals are creative endeavor focused too. I recently started sharing my writing/poems on Substack and I’ll be doing a reading with HerStudio in September. I’d love to garner more readers and keep sharing/being published.
5. Fit/modeling career highlights?
My fit modeling career highlights are always when a big name like Lizzo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, or Aidy Bryant wears a design that was built on my body. There have been some amazing collabs that I’ve gotten to work on as well like Eloquii X Kate Spade. It’s amazing to help bring a demographic previously excluded from the conversation access to an iconic designer/brand. And honestly any time I’ve been flown out for a client I’ve felt like boss lady haha.
6. How did you get into fit modeling?
I was discovered by Bicoastal! Haha that’s how I got into fit modeling. A friend had submitted me through their website digital submissions and almost two years later I got called in for a meeting. During my measurements after my meeting the booker jokingly asked “can you be half an inch shorter? I’m working on a casting right now.” And I said “Yes. Yes I can.” I changed my posture, remeasured, shaved off the half inch, and the rest is history. We were all laughing so hard and it’s been the same joy ever since. I’m eternally grateful to Bicoastal.
